Frequently Asked Questions

Can you spay or neuter my pet?
We are extremely limited in what surgical procedures we can offer. Without a facility with a dedicated anesthetic machine and team we cannot spay or neuter cats or dogs at this time. We are happy to help arrange a referral for all of our patients to meet their surgical needs.

How much is the travel cost/mileage?
To keep the cost of mileage down we offer complementray travel if you book on one of our dedicated days to your town or area. If you need us to come directly to you outside of these days we charge $1.50/km actually driven from Delburne or $3.00/km when viewed on google maps.

How did you come to X dollars for a specific procedure?
We started with the licensing bodies fee guide and asked local practices to ensure we are consistent with them. Some of our fees are a bit lower than a physical practice due to our low overhead. If you have concerns that a procedure is over priced we want to hear from you, we want to ensure everyone is receiving a valuable service for the price offered.

I have a large animal after hours emergency, what should I do?
Emergencies don’t always happen during business hours — which is why we offer after-hours emergency veterinary services for both cattle and equine patients. Whether it’s a difficult calving, a colic case, or an unexpected injury, we’re just a phone call away when your animals need urgent care.

If you have an emergency, please call us at 403-588-0220 and hit 1 to dial through. If it is unsafe for us to work you will receive a message informing you of our limitations immediately.

I have a small animal after hours emergency, what should I do?
We don’t have the infrastructure to see small animal emergency patients at this time. While sometimes someone is monitoring the email or Facebook messenger, we put the phone on silence for the evening and weekends to allow for uninteruppted family time. Please reach out to Animal Emergency Hospital in Red Deer at 403-347-2676 in the event of any animal emergencies.

Why are dewormers so expensive for my farm cat?
The majority of pharmaceuticals in the vet industry are priced at cost plus a standard margin. While there are some affordable options for some species, the unfortunate reality is that many of the dewormers are expensive for us to purchase and carry to have on hand.
